| I'd probably save up another £60 or so and get a 10W Halcyon HID.

| are you talking new or used? can you actually buy an umbilical for that price new? Well, Salvo et all, are out of that price range, so i'd look at Greenforce so you can upgrade later if you like, or a JMD isn't too much more: Underwater Diving Torches. Prices and Buy Online My mate has an older one of these and it's bullet proof. I have a couple of Greenforces and they are ok. If you want 2nd hand there is a Custom Divers one in the personal ads on here......EDIT: FS: Custom Divers 10w HID Umbilical Torch

| I'd look for a Dive Rite 10W HiD on the 2nd hand market or a 10W 4.5 Salvo... if you can find either you should be pretty happy with it.

| I echo all the above - if you can save up a little more for a HID it's worth every penny. I've made an investment in my 21w Salvo, which although expensive, will be the last torch I'll ever need to buy. My salvo is already a few years old and still works just as well as it did when I first got it. I have a couple of LED backup torches, including an utterly brilliant miniature Mares torch/lightstick which is brilliant as a backup light as it's only 2 inches long. But I still don't like the light from LED - as Rob says, it doesn't seem to punch through the gloom as much as a HID does. It's a bit like putting your lights on full beam when it's really foggy - it just seems to light up the fog and not pierce through it. |

| I got a second hand 10w non focusable hid umbilical off ebay for £180 inc delivery. It's the best thing I ever did. Keep a look out, you could get a bargain. Just seen one on ebay, four days left to go and it's a salvo one, current bid £100. Salvo 10W HID umbilical dive light on eBay, also, Dive Lights Torches, SCUBA Snorkelling, Sporting Goods (end time 11-May-08 22:04:09 BST) Cheers Lyv Last edited by puddlediver : 07-05-08 at 12:46 PM.
