Salvo Charger Issue?

Just a quick question and I wondered if anyone else had had this issue.

My Salvo is a 21W 9Ah one which so far has worked fine.

However, I do seem to have a wierd thing going on with the charger - it's one of those Nickel Minder Computer Controlled Charger jobbies.

Example - I'll have used the torch for 3 hours or more and I'll need to charge the battery.

So I connect it up to the charger, it switches to 'Charging' mode and then goes to 'Charged' within about 5 minutes.

If I disconnect it and then reconnect it, it goes back to 'Charging' and then after another few minutes it may or may not say 'Charged' - occasionally I have to 'rinse and repeat' a few times, and sometimes it will just carry on straight through and charge for hours and hours.

So far I've never had the torch run out of charge, but is that normal activity for the charger?

Am I doing something wrong?

It's not an uncommon problem with the "clever" charger. Did you get it from Phill, if so, give him a call would be my advice and I am sure he will send you a slightly less intelligent but much more effective charger.

My "Universal Smart Charger" does a similar thing from time to time.

Must be the electronic equivalent of a slap around the back of the head to remind it.

Thanks both. I did get it from Phill, but if it's a common problem I'll just live with it.

Glad it's not just me being a dumbass.

(I shouldn't at this point admit to being an electronics engineer by base trade, but computer controlled chargers aren't my specialty )

I am sure Phill will explain but my recollection is it's something to do with the green wire that connects to a sensor of some sort which mistakenly tells the charger the battery is fully charged .... but I might have completely misunderstood ....
