Mine gets slung in the back of the car already attached to the twins / harness...

No special treatment and a couple of years great service (obviously by saying this I'll have jinxed it now though )

the following solutions work:
  • beer cooler of the top of the lighthead
  • Neoprene thermal bottle coolers over the lighthead
  • the top of a Pringles tube fits perfectly over the end of a salvo lighthead..
  • As mentioned - some pack them away in a separate case - but if the lamp is protected - I think its overkill.

Yeah true... I think mine doesn't really get any abuse whilst in transit... It's more likely to get a severe bashing whilst it's bouncing around and bashing against things whilst on a bumpy sea.

They just get stuck in the dive bag with everything else. Make sure the battery is disconnected in the cannister.

For flying - the HID goes in my hand baggage

my g f hid250 is a big head ,it gets chucked in the back of the van and all over the rib and its been fine.
i have rapped the head in a rubber hose repair kit [that is self vulcanising tape and then a canvas type tape] and it looks after it well
