I can't open my C4!!

I can't open the front of my trusty C4!
I changed the batteries on a dive boat between dives a few weeks ago and now I can't get the bloody thing to open again. It's so tight that I've managed to bend the handle slightly trying to open it.

Any ideas? maybe I should get one of those strap wrench things...

It took me ages to work out what you were talking about. C4, isn't that a car, did you take the battery out to start a RIB, has that jiggered the central locking?

Then the penny dropped, you mean one of these don't you?

Seems to be a common problem with UK type lights, my 800r would regularly stick.

I found sticking it in a bucket of very hot water and leaving it turned on for a while expanded the plastic just enough that if I gripped it between my thighs (missus!) with a pillow to stop the handle digging in, I could put enough torque on the lid to open it.

How to open your C-4 without tools (possibly)

Take off the rubber cowl and try to unscrew when dry with dry hands - works a treat for my LC-100, which I had previously had loads of difficulty opening, having usually resorted to the use of a strap-wrench over the cowl.
I do hope this helps.........

strap wrenchy things work well as does getting a mate to firmly grip the bezzle end whilst you hold onto the main body wih both hands and both turn like bu55ery in opposit directions.

welcome to the club

Well done on deciphering my slightly, but unintentionally, cryptic message.

Thanks!!! This worked (although I think my wrists nearly dislocated ).
I'll now be careful to grease the threads a bit and untighten it after each dive trip should I need to use it again!
