I advised Russ to go down the line with the Greenforce product. We have had demo sessions at the club with both the torch and the umbilical version. I have both. (HID and LED) He has also compared it with other makes too.
It is my understanding that Russ decided to go for the standard torch in LED format.
When discussed the product was described as (and shown in the picture) a standard torch. When Russ bought the product he said that they had thrown in an umbillical lead free and it was dimmible head too.
It appears the spec has changed but no one has seemed fit to actually mention this. Do Deep blue really sell a torch without a handle?
Sounds like a communication failure on part of the supplier (end supplier that is)
I agree with you mate, the advert is misleading - a picture paints a thousand words and all that.
If they really do need to cut back costs (don't try and tell me that these torches aren't bunce city even with the long supply chain) then surely they could get rid of the towel or bag before the handle.
My business has a sheetmetal operation so I know a bit about the cost of a bit of a bit of anodised bent ali, difficult to judge the exact size of it but I would say the material price would be of the order of 25-30p and being overly conservative say £2 absolute top whack finishing cost if you include cleaning, folding, anodising, running costs, equipment depreciation etc.
If I had a Greenforce then I would be far more concerned about the sales tactic of specifying power using Watt equivalents. I know they are not the only ones doing that, in fact it speaks volumes that Salvo and Halcylon don't feel the need to go down that road.
Sorry, quick correction the package you are looking at is not the one a purchased.
The one i ordered was £345.00 and not described as a umbilical package. That is a sepetrate advert. I bought a hand held toch with an umbilical torch - not an umbilical torch package.
I have just spoken to Rob At Lumb Bros and can he was exteremly helpfull and confimed that Ues the head i recieved was wrong and that the handle had only been removed from the umbilical package and not the hand held unit - for reasons mentiond earlier.
I would strongly suggest anyone purchasing this fantastic produt - contacts Rob at Lumb Bros first. Their response was quick, professional and fair. Excellent customer service many thanks Rob.
Correction to Padowan's post eairlier.
Yesterday, I ordered the same torch package from Deep Blue (at £345) so I'll be interested to see what arrives (it's been despatched). Be assured I will not be satisfied with anything less than everything shown in the illustrations. I note that today the price seems to have gone up by £25 to £370!!
Incidentally, I went to Deep Blue's site because I also saw the same offer in their glossy printed catalogue sent out with the latest copy of Diver (check it out).
If Deep Blue have made an error on their website AND printed catalogue then that's surely their problem, not mine.
