    Another bloody backup torch opinion thread...

    I know, I know - been mentioned a thousand times before but I thought I'd stir it up again.

    Looking for a torch I can take away on my hols to use for a few night dives and poking my head in holes 'n stuff. Once I get back I expect it will become my backup.

    I've looked at the Halcyon Scout (LED) which seems a bit expensive and the Salvo Rat Jnr from Knackers which looks pretty good but a little short on info here on YD.

    I know Heser and TecLight seem personal favs too - but they look a bit plasticy in the online pics while the Rat and the Scout apear more solid (and black).

    Any comments on either of these?

    Tektite Expedition Star LS5. Machined from solid aluminium.

    You could beat the missus to death with it and not leave a dent. Plus it's waterproof so you can wash the bits of blood and brain off afterwards.

    The Heser is pretty solid and black too - not unlike the Scout
    It's a great backup torch with a pretty good beam.

    The scouts with LED are very good- I use them - as is the rat and the Heiser.

    I haven't seen the Teklite but from Woz's description it could be just the thing for the Honeymoon

    Hahahahaha!

    Poking of the wrong sort will probably end up with a "Woz-beating" for me!

    Everyone seems to have a personal fav - searching YD it seems much of a muchness between the Scout, Heiser, Rat etc... and I can't make my bloody mind up.
