Red Sea Torch advice needed please

Well the wife and I finally did it we are off on our first ever Red Sea Liveaboard next year with Tony Backhurst on Whirlwind

We are booked on an escorted Northern Wreck Tour with the opportunity for some wreck penetration or so we have been told anyway.

My wife currently uses a Greenforce F2 Battery with an HID50 head and I use a Metalsub HID200.

I also have sat here doing nothing a Greenforce AA12 Battery with Tristar LED head.

So my thinking is that the HID heads, (especially my 200watt one), are going to be way to powerful for the Red Sea especially on night dives we want to see the fish not cook them

I thought that the wife could use her F2 Battery with the LED head and I would use the AA12 battery and buy a second Tristar LED head for it.

Has anyone used the Tristar head in the Red Sea if so was it any good for wreck diving and photography at night....

Or is the HID50 we already have ok for the Red Sea.......

Sensible answers on a postcard to the usual address please
Just as I was getting used to yesterday along came today

Cool cheers rob but the problem is I think for the Red Sea the HID is too much so an LED that is more powerful than that is not really what I am after but if it means the price of the older tristar is dropping then I will be interested in taking one of those of your hands

Don't take anything too powerful, you'll not need it + you'll scare everything away, just done a similar trip b.t.w. - Enjoy!!

    Egypt nights

Take a lenser frogman......great for Egypt night dives and far less weight than you're proposing. Just take a spare set of AA batteries...even though they last for ever !!!

no neil the daft bright ones were the quadrstar and the monostar 880 and 900 lumens.but the good thing is that both are dimmable so you can use it on full power 66% and 33% power depending on how bright you require it to be.

    cheers rob
