Brightstar bulb in a CD Torch??

As some might be aware, the bulb was on the way out on my handheld CD HID torch....Well now it has given up the ghost...It has ceased to be!!

Anyway, I understand the Brightstar bulb is alot more robust than the the Welch alleyn one.

Is it possible to just slot a brightstar in or do I need a different ballast as well? I think they are both the same size(MR11)

    Anybody any ideas?

    Ta

I know that you will get differing opinions on the durability thing. If it is a cost issue though check out Trail Tech Products Limited Replacment Lamps - Trail Tech Products Limited

The Welch Alleyn bulbs are on that page and seem quite a bit cheeper than many of the diving suppliers. Might not make myself popular, but it's true. Some of them are wildly overpriced IMO.

I think you'd have to look at the tech drawings / spec of each component for a definitive answer. If you can get me the model numbers of the parts I can ask on another forum on your behalf. If you're feeling flush you might like to know that Welch Allyn have recently released an MR11 format 14 watt HID ballast and bulb which wacks out 1000 lumens. It's $189 plus shipping though...
