    Tilley torches

Anyone got one / used one.

The backup LED W30 looks as though it might be nice. Photo looks a bit like a halcyon scout. Specs are:

    LED W30
    Length approx. 185 mm
    Light capacity approx. 30 Halogenwatts
    Battery size : AA
Burn time approx. 5 hours on full power, after wich
(with Alkaline batteries) the light gradually decreases over a period of
approx. 5 hours (still enough light to read
    instruments)
    Burn time approx. 3 hours
    (with NiMH batteries)
    Waterproof to 200 m
Life span of LED approx. 50 000 hours

    Cheers, John

This is unbelievable! the TillyTec back up torch looks exactly like my Hong Kong UltraFire one: DealExtreme: $37.50 UltraFire W200 200-Meter Waterproof Diver's Cree P4-WC 176-Lumen LED Flashlight (3*AA)

Hi, my buddies use this as a backup. All i can say is that you won't find a better backup. It's powerful and cuts in the dirt like a knife. The beam is quite narrow, so perfect for signaling. I used it on night dives as my main torch and it worked flawlessly.
My buddies haves their W30 for more than two years now and it's rock solid. Delrin body aluminum head. You twist it to put it on. Three o rings so impossible to flood.

With three batteries inside, the light will last for more than five hours at full power. Than, it will decrease but will not leave you in the dark.

I'm not connected to tillytec. I'm only an impressed user.

Same sentiments as the above post. I forgot to bring my HID metalsub 125 light for last Saturday’s diving and resorted to borrowing a W30 from a buddy. I have to admit I was very impressed with the light and to be honest, I didn’t actually miss the metalsub light during 2 dives in 1 m vis. Certainly not saying its better than the metalsub but it was definitely adequate to be used as a primary light for last weeks diving. I’m now going to order one. At least 10 members of our club have bought these lights over the last 12 months and so far I’ve heard nothing but praise.

I also have the LED 1000 with a TTL2 umbilical.

I have to say that I am very very pleased with the thing.

I have just bought a W30 as it is new I can not coment on how long before its broke and what the customer service is like but bloody hell is it impressive in the water. A very narrow beam with plenty of range I was able to use it to get the attraction of another diver at a distance of ten meters on a wreck were lights were not needed. I compared it with a Salvo Rat and it totaly out performed it.

The Ultrafire is a far eastern copy of TillyTec's W30. It looks the same and is very much cheaper but after a few dives most owners will find out the they start flashing and then die because the o-ring seals don't do the job properly. You get what you pay for!!
