| Mines between 15 - 25 based on total dive time/tank pressure used. Depends on the dive. I am a smoker as well. |

| This time of year my SAC is in single figures. It goes up to about 12 during the Winter. Wasn't always like that though, my 3rd open water dive I emptied a 15ltr in under 20mins at about 15m! |
| ||||
| My SAC is around 12-16, any higher must be due to much exercise or anxiety. Don't think I've passed 20. THE SAC doesn't worry me but like to keep it similar to my buddy . |

| OK Ok I succumbed!!! and am now on my 3rd pint of Murphys!!!! Think my SAC is droppng as are my eye lids! Bloody expensive game this surfing on a pay a quid for 10 mins.. Think I'll save me cash for more ale:-) Paul

| Look at my handle and guess what I am about to say......average UK SAC is between 25-30, while in warmer clearer climes it is 20-25. My first drysuited dive I did manage to hit 40+ and got through a 12ltr in <19 minutes. As you would expect I get the p155 taken quite a lot but my regular buddies are pretty good and have been know to help me out when the tank gets a little low. I always dive a pony now, at least in the UK, as it only takes an unwarranted current or something like that to raise my rate and scupper my plan. Am considering twins so might be interested in the weight of your new set Garf. You up the pool tonight? Anyway, as Daz said and one of my regular buddies abroad always says you don't get refunds for bringing back air and as long as I get to back on the boat with some left ... Regards Mark

| Last weekend dive 1 (Scylla) worked out at 20 l/min (nervous, new boat, not dived for a bit) then the second dive on the JEL dropped to 15 l/min. OK I was squirrelling through the corridors on the Scylla which would increase SAC as it's slightly unnerving so that would account for it. First dive of the year back in Stoney in Feb (4 deg C brrrrrr) SAC was 25. Eeeek. Still, better than Bottle Monkey's- he can drain a 15 in the bath in two mins flat. We are all pretty sure he must hit the purge button on his octopus when no-one is looking. Even Bernard Manning running uphill giving a piggy back to Rik Waller won't use that much.

| Woohoo. I've got crap air consumption (used to be 25 to 27, now around 22) and the solution for me was getting a twinset. Then you don't have to worry about it. The mturning point for me was when we did a four day trip to Porthkerris and I realised that I spent more time driving to Cornwall (7 hours) then I did underwater. Those extra 15 minutes of a dive count! And it's such a nice feeling not worrying about your air consumption as you know that the other guy is going to run out of gas before you do (light breathers won't understand this). I posted a poll on this a few months back and it turned out that most people are in the 15 to 20l/m range. IIRC the BSAC 25l/min is what trainee Ocean Diver should use to do their air calcs. Laters, Janos
