Question Diving For All/Disabled Divers Needing Assistance.

Hi Guys

I have a group of approx. 15 people who really want to have a try-dive.

They are a very mixed bunch, both age wise and disabilities. Two are wheelchair users, many others have injured their backs, 2 are visually impaired.

I'm trying to find an accessible pool, and an organisation qualified and experienced enough for this challenge.

I would prefer somewhere within an hours drive from Bradford, and also preferably Monday to Thursday evening (as unfortunately I am committed to enjoying weekends away on the East coast).

Anyone have any ideas?

Hey Carol,

You might want to contact Chris Hall and his good lady Liz Rimer on this very site. They are both Diving Instructors whom specialise in teaching the disabled.

Good luck and HTH.

Hi Bren

I've met Chris and Liz. Between us we are trying to organise things, but not having much luck I'm afraid.

It's not so much the pool, as the equipment. We also need quite a few qualified instructors, as some of the people may need the support of 2 or even 3 instructors.

Thanks again

I have a pool available Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Approximately 6 full sets of equipment (including masks, fins and snorkels) and Divemasters to assist.

We are in Hull and that would make us about an hours drive away.

Call me on (01482) 341192 evenings.

Best regards.

Kevin

Hi Carol,

What a result!! - I thought a post would be the best way of finding a pool/equipment etc. The power of the web, what?

Hope your people have a great time!

Cheers

Thank you guys

Kev, I will round up my students tomorrow, then give you a ring asap.  When and where is your opening day?

John, next time you're at DW, pop in for a coffee (it's nice to be able to put a face to a name).

Thanx again

Carol,

The shop is scheduled to open on 7 April.

Will Chris and Liz be overseeing the try dives?

I can arrange for all the equipment, support and H2O but would appreciate any specialist knowledge in making sure that the experience is a good one for all concerned.

Look forward to seeing you again.

Kev

Hi Kev

I have sent an email to Chris and Liz, as I too would like them present.

I may be going diving with them this Sunday, so i've no doubt we'll talk about it again then.

Pity you are opening on a Monday, would have like to come along.

Anyway, will give you a ring to obtain more details, and give you more details.

See you soon

Carol
