| Hi - am new here but hope someone can help enlighten me/reassure me. ....am off on holiday soon and planning (at the moment) to do my rescue diver while away. i've been diving for over a decade (really only on hols) but just decided to do this course now. i roughly know what's involved but not specifically and someone i spoke to recently has put the fear of god into me by saying how incredibly hard it was and that becuase i'm not terribly strong (and a woman) i would find it near impossible. Is this true? i was feeling really confident i'd be fine but now am a bit anxious? |

| Welcome to YD! Do not worry too much about the rescue course. I too thought I would not manage it, but as the others mentioned, if you are reasonable fit you will manage it just fine! :-)

| Hi and welcome, Dinner Lady isn't particularly strong and she managed ok, a bit tired for a day or so afterwards, she got extra marks for wrapping her legs round the instructor to get him to the surface, he often refers to it when we meet

| First of all welcome to YD. No Instructor in his right mind will make you carry a 20 stone bloke to a hospital. As you will learn on the course, you will haveto stay in your capabilyties as far as a rescue goes, because if you donīt , there will be 2 victims instead of one. The rescue course is a lot more about preventing incidents than lugging people about and it makes you more aware of why things happen. Having said that, in my opinion it is the most rewarding course you can do and if done right it is fun as well. Go for it you wonīt regret it. HTH Michael

| welcome to YD the rescue course was my first PADI one and I thought it was great and don't worry whether you are strong enough the instructor [fat barsteward] demonstrated being rescued by a lady DM [small and slight] to great sucess. It's technique as opposed to brute strength IME. Enjoy. Safe diving, Steve

| There is nothing to worry about but a great deal to be gained. I would recommend reading the manual first and when it comes to the course just really get stuck in. Act out the scenarios as if they are real situations. I think that this course is the best Padi course (as a leap in diving education and best structure). Personally, I felt more competent as a diver as a direct result of this course. |
