| There may be an equivalence. Were you to join our club with a non-bsac nitrox qual, then you could still use nitrox. While I understand that you need it for the SDC points, call HQ and see if the accept PADI IANTD etc as an equvalent qualification, that's what I did with my Diver 1st Aid (I have a FAAW cert.) If there is a personal issue between you and the other diver, then go to another BS-AC branch - we were actually advised to do this in the case that a course has an exam to avoid accusations of nepotism. r P

| Hi mate, If you are thinking about doing the Advanced Diver course, then I think you will have to start on the new (non SDC based) syllabus. So whether or not you are Nitrox qualified makes no odds. However Nitrox is worth doing in and of itself anyway. On the Bsac Website PADI Nitrox is not listed as an equivalent. However the BSAC site only lists alternatives for the BSAC Advanced Nitrox qualification, and so it might be worth checking with HQ (technical@bsac.com) as to whether it equates to the basic BSAC nitrox course (ie the one day of theory one). I would be surprised if it didn't. Janos

| Hi Dynalex48 If you are thinking of becoming an advanced diver, then advanced nitrox would be somthing you should do anyway. There are often local courses if there is enough interest, put some more detail in your profile to let people help you more. You could also post a thread looking for a BSAC club course being run near to you that will accept an outsider - most will be happy to. James
