| Imported post <font color='#0000FF'>Assuming that you're describing a BSAC Club scenario: A Branch Instructor (I'm assuming that's what BI stands for) has no "authority" to "rule" over anything, they are there to instruct and if a trainee has cause for concern they should make this known asap. Plus the instructor should discuss with their trainees during the dive briefing what senarios are going to be covered and how and why. If this guy is as bad as you have described then someone should inform his DO, but a good DO should be involved anyway and should know the styles of his/her instructors. If the DO is as bad as the BI then your friend needs to find a better club to train with, every club is different, the Area Coach or Regional Coach should be able to help. I don't personally know any instructors who aren't active and safe divers with plenty of experience, I've certainly met a couple who, to me, seem like complete A-holes but not in terms of safety or instruction quality. Maybe it should be done as standard practice?

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>We used to do it in the Rescue Course. Point at something, and as they turn their head, nick off with their reg. I used to enjoy stealing it and then sitting on their back. Great fun. We play underwater mugging too. Whenever you're in the water without a trainee, you're game for having anything and everything nicked. I remember getting back on the boat with nothing but an undone wetsuit and a weightbelt on. Nice. I got a bit p*ssed when I was on a deco stop and a couple of mates decided that was a good time where I would be stuck on a line for a while. I don't think they realised I couldn't bolt for the surface!!! All part of the fun. I had a challenge from one of our over-confident Ocean Divers a couple of weeks ago. That was fun. Turns out he couldn't clear a mask with no reg in. He got his priorities straight after that. You can live without being able to see, but you don't last long if you can't breathe. And you can't turn a tank back on if you can't reach the valve. |

Or the ever-popular mask with no glass...

| Imported post Hi Mark, sort of a branch instructor in semi-retirement at the moment SSAC----our club is lucky enough to have several BIs at present, so the grizzled old veterans can have a rest and go play------OK, maybe not a veteran after seeing the number of dives some on here have done, I sure qualify for the other two!! All the best, Malcolm. |

1: BSAC training is NOT acepted all over the world M8 There are pleanty of places where you wouldent even be allowed to dive. I think you will find PADI and CMAS are the only agencies that realy count on a world wide basis. However Dive guides the world over usualy have good stories about BSAC divers. ATB Mark Chase

Interesting, I'd like to hear more about the places I can't dive. I'd then send that info to BSAC and I'm sure they'd be interested to know too. I'm sure Dive Guides generally will suck up to whoever the customer is. I read a joke a little while ago. Read it below; Quote:
Kindest Regards WL PS Like the signature by the way |

| Imported post I heard a great song about BSAC in Sharm one year, by a couple of guy's that called themselves the Deco Boys, it wasn't exactly complimentary. Very funny though. Before anyone has a pop, I am both PADI, BSAC and TDI So there. Andrew p.s., WL your real name isn't Vic is it?
