| Imported post Hi all, BSAC also now run Trimix and Rebreather Courses, i am doing this from memory but Lizzie Bird announced at DOC 2002 that Jack Ingle had just completed and had approval from the NDC for the programme and content. Penny Glover runs the Rebreather working group and has set up BSAC Rebreather courses for this summer, i have some flyers on them at home that were given out at DOC 2003. I think they all take place in France, could be wrong though. As a point of note i think you will find that nearly all BSAC National Instructors have TDI or IANTD qualifications and dive on these 'cos they wanted the qual's before BSAC awarded them. ALL NI's i have spoken to have a very grown up attitude to this. The rule problems largly come from overzelouse interpritation of some or adding lots of extras. Dive safe Paul undefined

| Imported post Can't speak for BSAC, but the SAA club I'm a member of gives little credence to my CCR quals in terms of their Dive Leader level (which I'm assuming to be very similar to BSAC's on account of the rescue training etc). Which means I'm a sports diver. Suits me |

| Imported post I'm fairly sure the trimix & rebreather schemes are currently only pilots, rather than fully-fledged courses.. Incidentally, Mary, you didn't get the wrong end of the stick - you just poked it in the wrong place If, say, a PADI AOW joined BSAC, he'd cross over to OD, I believe. If that same person then went away on holiday and became a RD while he was out there, he WOULDN'T be allowed to cross over AGAIN to DL - you only cross over to BSAC once. However, it's diving grades this applies to - OD,SD, DL, etc. The other types of courses - Nitrox, Trimix, Rebreather, etc, you don't actually cross over these, you're just allowed to use them for your BSAC diving. Having a TDI nitrox card, for instance, wouldn't necessarily allow you to get a BSAC Nitrox card. But you'd still be allowed to dive Nitrox. Hope that makes sense & straightens it out a bit..

And the rebreather info as to what is sanctioned by national club was from the BSAC website.

| Imported post <font color='#F52887'>I am certified to dive by TDI to deeper than my Sport diver ticket allows me to do in the club, but on a club dive it is the club certification that is important for insurance puposes i assume. but my training officer signed me off on some experience dives due to my TDI training.
