Beginner Diver

A friend who lives in Sussex wants to join the mad world of diving.
I don't know any places over there which I could recommend for
training. Can anyone recommend a competent and friendly dive
instructor somewhere in her vicinity?

Many thanks

Jackie

The only one that springs to mind is Wittering Divers:: . Don't really know if they are any good, however reading the instructor profiles, they all seem decent all-rounders, with both BSAC & PADI experience (never a bad thing) and boat-handling skills....... So she won't have to learn in a quarry !

Depends where in Sussex, the guys at Wittering Divers are nice peeps and I've heard good things about the folks in Lancing (they have their own pool which always helps for training) www.oceanviewdiving.co.uk and I found this link on google West Sussex Clubs

Good luck

It depends on what route she wishes to take? If she wants to qualify fast and s a quick learner then join a PADI organisation. If she wants the social aspect as well as learning to dive at a more leisurely pace then I suggest BSAC. If she looks on Welcome to the BSAC it lists all the clubs.

Did my Open and Advanced Open Water with Wittering Divers... I always found them a good bunch... but Sussex is a big county, it could be too far to travel if you live Brighton way.

You could give Mulberry Divers in Selsey, West Sussex (www.mulberrydivers.co.uk) a go. I popped in there on the weekend for a fill to dive the lifeboat station and they were really helpful and eager to help.
