Which ITDA is ITDA?

I am confused
We have the International Technical Diving Agency (ITDA) itdagroup.com
and
the International Technical Diving Association (ITDA) itdahq.com
(following Rob Palmer)

Both issuing "ITDA" qualifications and running "ITDA" courses

But who is the "real ITDA"??

If I started the Portsmouth Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) or Bournemouth Suab Aqua Club (BSAC) or Inverness Active Naturist Technical Divers (IANTD) - would this help?

As crossovers are based on "known" associations...and qualifications are based on one ITDA - who the heck are ITDA? Is there an Indian Tropical Diver Association that I could mistake for one of the other 2 ITDAs?


And are there only 2 ITDA's??

The International Technical Diving Association (ITDA) itdahq.com is the original one and The International Technical Diving Agency (ITDA) itdagroup.com is probably the more active of the 2.

ITDA (itdahq.com one) is pretty active up here. Ian Reid is in charge of the UK and trains through Northern Technical.

I have just done a deco nitrox course with him.

That is the original one. Used to be run from Fort William by Simon Townsend.
Simon is now in Menorca and passed the UK over to Ian, he used to work with Simon in Fort William. Once Simon departed for Menorca things did get a little quiet but Ian has been given the job to get things moving again. I just did my Nitrox with him.
He can offer all OC tech courses and all Closed Circuit Courses. He does a lot of diving with Atlantic Divers.
The ITDA group is pretty new to the market.

I was querying the site recently as, while starting in the UK, being very big in Asia-Pac they seem be having a 'temporary 'pause' in the UK

There were always a number of confusing websites and, IIRC, the correct one was, and still is

ITDA Group International - Home

The UK site now apppears to be consolidated with this website, although can be found on the old .co.uk

This is the one I have trained with and I was led to believe the Scottish ITDA was a diving school and UK only, as opposed to the international agency training worldwide

My confusion was as a BSAC Club diving officer - the BSAC SALT has ITDA equivalents for crossover but doesn't say WHICH ITDA is the one referred to, I will ask HQ which one is the ITDA on the SALT

There were also two TDI's running alongside a few years ago, the other run out of Fort Bill as well. Dave Crockford threatened to sue me once because even he didn't know which was which when I'd posted a message on Scuba UK about their instructor training that was offered to me
