Me too, but if for example, you were in a wreck or a cave, you might have to go along quite a way first, at your deepest depth....more gas available as ANY time in the dive is a better thing in my book, whether you need it or not.

Thumbs up Well-in H!

Top write-up H,

I agree with comments above: this kind of personalised training (instead of being just one of many students in the water with an instructor) actively saves diving lives'!

The kind of diver who addresses any major step-change (i.e. like the swap from singles and a BCD to wing and twins) in a '"I just learnt it from mi mates and by watching them" are, IMHO, an incident looking for a venue.

Without these skills - and their regular drilling & practise (something we can all learn from the DIR-wallahs "train hard, fight easy"), you'll never know how to correct/redress/bug-out of a potentially hazardous situation - especially if you intend to progress your diving to the point where you take up Trimix and begin doing the deeper wrecks - you can not simply 'go for the surface' at 70-90 metres on a shot-line, even if you want to, when your mask has been kicked off, and then lost, by another diver, or you've lost a fin, or you need to isolate and shut down: you have to be able to deal with it there and then.

This kind of one-on-one training package is some of the best money you'll ever spend in the sport.

"Safer diving - helping to reduce the number of incidents on the BSAC annual report!"

See you in Mull on Friday H.

Thanks Helen,
I pretty much need to start diving twins now, I was just not sure what to buy , how to set it up and how to use it - you,ve convinced me to give Dales divers a call and arrange to visit their shop for more information and proper training.

Cheers for that expressive article Helen, I am think of going the same way, though I'm about 6 months behind you. I'm definately thinking of doing the skills training with Andy.

Thanks for the report Helen - sounds like a really worthwhile couple of days.

Is there anywhere down south where you can try out different wings/harnesses before buying them? This will probably be my next major purchase in a couple of months time.

And actually extremely good value for money! £60 per day for one on one coaching (Even at £80 after October - still good value).

When you consider the costs of a plumber, builder or just about any other profession that is damn cheap.

Not to mention the chance to buy right first time by trying stuff out. Potential savings on poor choices there as well...

Overall I reckon it sounds like a great service (Crikey what am I Dale's divers sales team ) Just a shame for me that he is not so local

I'm just hoping Andy will be looking at doing a Advanced Nitrox/Deco procs down South at some point.... maybe with a view to Normoxic Trimix.

Hey Daz,

Andy has always maintained that he is both willing and able to travel to Stoney, NDC, Vobster - where ever - to train folks either on any course or in any form of personal coaching (OW toTirmix to CCR rebreather); just give him a shout and discuss the requirement.

HTH.

Likewise Daz,

I have recently missed out on Andy at NDC, so perhaps a couple of others and the right dates, this should be a goer.

Great write up Helen It's sounds like excellent value for money and a way to eusure that you buy right first time.

I'm intersted though, what made you go for a Poeidon and APEX, I realise that there's no right or wrong, just what feels right to you, also how does the hose routing work?

Cheers
