Cheers for the kind words. Poseidon - on a long hose which is bungeed against my tank. Found it a really pleasant breathe, plus it has the advantage that if anyone pinches it whilst having a dicky fit it can be used either way up which might be important in extremis. Apex - bungeed around my neck so that I can just lean forward and bite into it... It's also more similar to the regs I had already (a fairly beloved Aqualung Legend) but with a first stage that enables tidier hose routing. Didn't suss this next fact until after useage, but I am actually glad I don't have a Poseidon back up as I'd have to swim around with it on its 'minus' setting to prevent a freeflow, and if I ever needed to switch to it in a hurry whilst panicking my first gulp of air wouldn't be delivered quite as I would want. All in all though there's no particular reason for the mix and match other than the fact that I liked that set-up and felt comfortable with it. Cheers HM |

With a top quality workout to make the decission on. Train Hard, Dive safe Paul Manifolded twin twelves, cracked with ATX50 & 40, plus an AP Valves Military BC and a well worn NDivers CNX2000 drysuit which has loads of flex.

| If you are diving manifolded twins then you lose a lot of the advantages by closing the isolator. It only needs to be open a 1/4-1/2 turn to keep the tanks equalised so takes one twist to close. Porg is correct, if you get a problem with indies you are going up. If you haven't been diving them with the rule of thirds then you aren't diving them correctly. With the rule of thirds you always have enough gas to exit anything you went in even if you lose a cylinder. Both methods have their good an bad points but both are bad if they are not used correctly. ![]() |
