| Hi, How did the trip to Rathline go?...hope you missed the worst of the weather. We're going to be heading over next weekend and I was wondering if you dived anything different from the usual (Loch Garry, Drake, Templemore) and if so was it any good? We are thinking of heading away sharp on Saturday and perhaps diving the Esbo off Girvan on the way there, but wouldn't mind doing something different at Rathlin. Any Help/Pointers would be handy. | Did the Lough Gary and a drift dive off the back of Rathlin a couple of years ago - the drift through the kelp was superb (we drifted over a mile in 45 mins!). Also there is a great 2nd dive in Ballycastle bay on a wreck that has been inhabited by loads of 6ft congers.

| The Santa Maria is a good choice to do - deep and dark but with good viz (if that makes sense). However, everyone bangs on about the wrecks off Rathlin. Personally, I think on the back of the island there is some of the best cliff diving in the British Isles. A lot of it starts deeper (30ms) than say the west coast of Scotland but blimey they go on and on....... Regards Simon

| Thanks for that, the wreck in Ballycastle Bay is the Templemore (AFAIR) and unfortunatly after Tommy Cecil died the fishermen cleaned it out of the congers, infact when we dived it earlier this year it was like a fishing takle shop with all the gear snagged on it. We did try to get round the back of the island but the weather was no good with a massive swell, but quite fancy giving it a try. Gav, I'll send Dougie a PM, Simon the Santa is a wee bitty too deep for me :o By the way if any of you are thinking of heading there in Ribs, give Aqaholics a call and they will arange to site a portable compressor on the pier at Ballycastle for your fills. | The Templemore was still a good dive 2 years ago although that may have changed int he meantime. Aquaholics (Portstewart) are good to use for trips etc.
