| Imported post Made it to Hodge. What a place, it's worth a visit to see the place never mind dive it. The way in through the tunnel is fantastic, although next time it maybe the 15L and leave the twinset behind. The dive it's self was great the VIZ 15meters at least. Not too much to see apart from a few cars and a couple of transits that were in pretty good condition to say what they must have been through to end up there! The sheer walls at the sides covered in moss were breath taking and every now and then I would see a resident newt swim past. The tunnels can wait for another day. Will have to return again soon. Coniston. Well after Hodge we travelled off down the road to Coniston, were we had a nice cuppa tea and sausage butty during our SI. Then to the dive site, Bailiff Wood. We entered the water and dropped down to around 10m and the headed off at 240 and followed a wall down at 15m it was pitch black. You need a good torch for this one! Carried on down to 32 were we had to stop as my buddy was on Nitrox. Once here we just turned around and followed the wall back taking it slow and trying to spot things of interest on the wall. We did eventually see a shole of Perch and found a plastic sandle. Back at 6m we deployed the SMB and headed back out the way we came in. This dive was good for preparing yourself for the darkness of the sea, althought the viz was pretty good at around 5m. It was also good to get a bit deeper than Cape allows you to get. I will go back to have another go! |
