Stoney on sunday

Went to Stoney on sunday. First dive was ok but the second dive was awfull we went on the 6m platform where me and my buddy were finned in the face about 25 times so we aborted our dive after only 25 minutes. It was rammed people everywhere, there must have been 30 odd people between the pub and the bust stop alone. Horrible just horrible.

Question

Why spend 25mins on the 6m shelf? At the weekend surface swim over the 6m and drop down into the deeper parts.

Let the schools and trainees do there thing. The Cove is all ways going to be like this at weekends, much better having a dip in the week.

Err no. Actually we did a surface swim out to the Stanegarth dropped down on to it and spent about 10-15 there. That was rammed as well so we made our way up to the 6m shelf where we would use about 50 bar as we were both on 150. We get there and the place is swarming with not newbies but people with huge professional cameras obviously looking for sharks or something. We should have gone to the plane.

I wasn't there this weekend, but I expect that it was extra busy because of this...: http://www.divernet.com/news/stories...in081104.shtml

Talking I'm a smug git...

Well, I went to Chesil Beach. 9 divers, pretty much the whole sea to ourselves*. 13c water temp, 2m vis, calm conditions, although interesting entry and exits... Fantastic.

dan

*apart from having to share it with the crabs, lobbies, wrasse and Smallus Fishus that we saw.
