| nice report kath... having seen my g/f urchin'd a few weeks back you have my sympathies (as do those who may have been around you when you got out of the water...!) i think you're a git for seeing so many angel sharks though... they've been eluding me in tenerife...! |

| Katherine, Why did you never let me read this before? Thank you for giving me a nice mention and leaving out the bit about a little argument on the train on the way home - I'm so chuffed we lasted that long! Yes I'm definately up for going back again - to perfect my snorkelling skills but I don't want you needing to investigate the local 'pot'! You are now NOT on a mission to visit the most 'pots' ever and keep out of them in Malta in June. Luv ya! Deborah (kath2407's older sister and 'pot' reporter - see 'kath in the pot' by Porg!) |

| Good report I thought a 'local' way of getting urchin spines to pull in their barbs so they will ease out was to pee on them, so you may be lucky if you only got marmited. My daughter got one rammed deep into the side of her big toe and after rummaging around with a hydodeemic noodle point and getting nowhere, the hotel 'doctor' in Dom Rep ended up using a scalpel to cut it out. Dunno which you would think was worse - certianly the needle bit didnt look like any fun at all....

| True Story. Group of us from the UK were with Calipso diving at Mala. One of our party was a neurotic diver who freaked if he had a headache. To say that he was a hypocondriac was putting it mildly. Now although not a bad guy, anything more than a few days of whining, got a tad too much. So whether by accident or design, here's what happend. He goes diving at Mala and naturally sticks his finger on the end of an urchin. Soon as he gets out of the water we get the "I'm dying" performance. We come up with the advice (which sounded plausible) that urchins posess a non-clotting agent, like leeches and so you must hold affective parts as high as possible. You know what's going to happen don't you :-) Picture the scene where the guy spends the whole trip back + washing kit and later in the cafe with his hand up in the air. He spent the most of that afternoon pretending he was ordering a drink! Still cant look at that seven tenths urchin t-shirt without smiling. Still, he didnt whinge quite so much after that one. He emigrated to New Zealand shortly afterwards, but that wasnt anything to do with the jolly jape (think it wasnt!). TerryH |

| With all those other distractions at Mala too

| Great Report Kath - helped me pass a dreary afternoon in the office where no-one has any work for me! Have some green for making me laugh and reminding me of that "stingy" feeling when I got urchined in the Canaries! - Moray is soooooooo right as usual!!! Calamity PS Was Teguise windy this time of year - it was awful for us when we went in May a few years ago - I had to buy a coat!! |
