Smile Last Dive From "Lady Gail" - Billy St Abbs

Andy b and I dived from Lady Gail at St Abbs.

This was the Lady Gail’s last outing as dive boat; she will be running fishing trips out of Fort William in the near future.

Billy will be back chartering later Feb early March with new Catamaran.

Weather conditions at St Abbs were today to say the least for time of year Excellent.
No wind, good considering the last few day, 11 Degrees C air temp, water temp a fresh 8 Degrees C.

We were dropped in on the "Pinnacles" to max depth of 25 meters, viz was between 5 - 8 meters. Tide was high and slack. Perfect.

My dive intentions were to get used to my new kit and pick up pointers and advice from Andy b. Which he did graciously. (not may chaps would sort your croch strap for you)

Dive went very well with excellent scenery, walls, swims troughs, small caves and lots of colorful full anemones, Sun Star fish and topped off with two Wolf Fish hiding in the rocks.

I need to sort out my harness, as I had a few problems with inflator; I need few more dives to tweak the rig correctly. (And more importantly sort out my technique)

Andy b leads the dive and was excellent in the water, perfect trim and buoyancy. Fining techniques were amazing.
First time I have witnessed backward fining up close, Andy b made it look so easy as he backed out a swim though just to tight to get the twin sets through.

Hope you enjoyed the dive also Andy, much appreciated meeting up and diving with you.

Please add in some comments to the trip report.

Regards,

Gary.

Hi

The Lady Gail is a class boat (my first time on her), and I really look forward to seeing Billy's new boat (Ali Kay?). Billy was telling us to expect even more room on the new cat'.

The rock features at the "Pinnacles" were really nice, but feel if I would have got a far better impression of the overall area if the vis was a little better. There are so many rocks to look under and holes to peer into, that I think you could dive this site quite a few times and always see new stuff.
