Have to add my thanks to... well everyone really. I had a great day, some excellent dives with And and Clare .

I might knock up a report of my dives if I get chance, but if not I'll just say it was really good, that And bloke is not half bad in the water .

I actually thought his trim was as good as mine (Well how I always imagined I looked ) Unfortunately he took the video in and I had a quick look at the footage afterwards of my trim (Well their goes another dream shattered )

Oh well, practice, practice, practice...

The only downside to the whole day, was Lou's accident on the steps. I don't think any of us were in any doubt how painful that must have been, hope you have a quick recovery Lou, and big respect for socialising in the bar despite what was without doubt an extremely painful incident . (Have a green blob for being so brave).

Big thanks to everyone who rallied round and helped Lou and C. Now that's what YD is about

Daz

Stoney Cove YD Gig Feb 2005 Hero Story Thread

Hi

Thanks to everyone who turned up to Stoney yesterday. I got to meet a few more YDers which was very cool. Nice to see that all of you are as nice in real life as you are on here.

I had a couple of great dives with Daz and Clare. First dive took the video along and we travelled along the 6mtr shelf to the blockhouse and then dropped down and travelled back to the helicopter before ascending. Everyone stayed together and I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Doing the video was cool, although it is a bit more work than normal trying to get yourself in position for 'that perfect shot'

Second dive we were joined by a couple of other YDers and our plan was to go to the staingarth. Following Daz' expert navigation (I was having a day off ) we ended up at the drop off to the 36mtr hole! Anyway, the other two knew what they were doing and we headed to the Staingarth, did the swim through and then followed the anchor back to the ascent. We hung around at 9mtrs as Clare wanted to confirm that her weighting was correct before we travelled along the 6mtr shelf a bit and we all deployed SMB's. I had an empty stage bottle by this point (I'd been diving an AL80 backgas and twins as reserve) and so I showed them both how to send it up the line.

A great day and there are so many people I met and chatted to I can't put all the names here but you know who you are.

Andy

These might be dumb questions but:

1. How?

2. Why?

No, thank you, especially as it was me that got us lost! I actually really enjoyed that dive, and it was nice finding out where all the fish hang out in winter!

Laters,
Janos

Not sure where to post this, but does anyone have an update on Lou. Before everyone starts to worry, Lou took a tumble up some steps (distracted by me).

Apparently she was also a bit concerned about Caroline's driving.

Just guessing, but

Am I right?

See - I talk a better talk then I dive

Laters,

Yeah a good day out, dive one wasnt quite what we planned, my buddy and I waited for Daz, And and Claire, got distracted by a bunch of newbies and headed for the Staney as planned, never saw the other 3 again. Good day out though, second dive was both long (and cold). Thanks Howie for driving.
Havent heard about Lou since the post dive pub, but she looked very knocked about, only bad bit of the day. I'll try and give her/C a call and see if I can get any news.

Matt

Talking Yesterdays Gig

Yup I'd like to thank Porg the Borg for organising, I met so many people yesterday I couldn't begin to remember all their names but hey your faces are becoming familiar so you might get pounced on in the future! I was the muppet with Bogwoppit taped to my chest (unsurprisingly ):-)

I am especially grateful to Wilbo for Buddying me and proving to me that I am not the only person in Stoney incapable of finding the Stangarth. Oh and for letting me camp out in his van which saved me tramping up and down from the top carpark no end. For protecting my Visa card from the shop and for pointing me in the cheap but shiney Din Valve protectors.. MMmmmMMmm Shiney!
Top Bloke m8! we will do Partland in the Summer. Heres some photos from the gig sorry there isn't more but my Camera decided it had had enough of the cold water due to flooding:-/ Luckily a Bl**dy good shaking and a hair dryer works wonders.
