Selsey 17/4 - Bugger

On the way down to Selsey for a 16;30 dive I got a text and call from Dave, dive canned - the air was blue (again).
Spent yesterday getting fills, some extra lead,a back-up torch for Adam and a few bits and pieces. Then on Sat afternoon I fettled some kit, filled the Dsmb (AP self inflators) re-jigged a few hoses etc for the boy. All set to go, Adam was looking forward to it as he hadnt dived for a few months. So to say we were dissapointed was an under statement. The day was an absolute corker too so it was doubly dissapointing to get Dave's message.
Hats off though as obviously Skipper has lost money on this (again) and as we got the call as we passed jnct 12 on the M25 we swung a U turn, not litteraly, and headed for Wraysbury.
Did a single dive as the viz was shall we say less than crystal clear, but its a nice place for a kit fettle etc, parked by the side of the 'lake' kitted up and jumped in. Cant say the dive was memorable but Adam dived well considering his lay-off (due to A levels) and I cant say I was surprised. Went home, had a bbq, and the day ended well. Also got a tank top-up, so sorted for next weekend, assuming its a goer.

Cheers Dave for the call before we got too far.

Matt

Don't suppose you will want to hear just how good the morning dive on the Camberwell was either. 7m vis and no torch required. Well worth getting up for but still too chilly for me to do much in the way of stops (9C). By the time we got back to the beach the wind had swung Southerly and was starting to pick up. I arrived home just about the time we would have been getting back from the Algiers and it was pretty black, raining and the wind was up to a 4.

Better luck next time Matt.

After spending Saturday in Wraysbury, I had agreed to do a shore dive near Selsey. As this was to be my first UK shore dive I was well up for it.

Watching TV Saturday night, phone goes. It is said friend, the bus driver, telling me that one of the other drivers at his garage has reversed a bus into his car, taking the wing off.

Oh bugger, that'll be the dive off then. Wait, you can borrow your brothers motor, sweet.

Sunday morning, another phone call, clutch cable has snapped on brothers car. So the closest I got to water on Sunday was watching a snidey copy of 'The Life Aquatic', don't other, it was crap.
