Wraysbury - 27/04/05

Popped along to Wraysbury last night to kit/bouyancy check with my brother (mostly for him as I've dived already this season). The water was a balmy 10 degrees, viz was p*ss poor.

It turned in to a YD mini meet as I met Simon A, who was there waiting for Gizmo. A bit surreal really, Simon came over to look at the hose routing on my twins and we got chatting about stuff. Came on to the subject of cannister lights and he mentioned he was thinking about getting a Salvo and I told him I had one (of course, I'd left it at home ). I said that I'd got it as part of a group-buy before Divingniknaks had come on the scene and his reponse was "you must have got it from Woz then" which is when the YD penny dropped

Must have just missed you, as we were along there to meet Gizmo and Simon A as well. Maybe next time (which is next Wednesday strangely enough )

As you say, vis was a bit pants but water temp was ok, esp in the new o3 undersuit

First time I've seen shoals of fish there as well, ok so they were tiny little things but shoals none the less.

Cheers,
Simon

Have a look round the bus - it's normally full of them (inside). Sometimes a reasonable sized pike there as well.

Gizmo arrived shortly before we left and promptly disappeared inside with Simon so I didn't get to say hello. I'd quite like to get down there more often but Wednesday nights are usually a problem for me so it's a shame that it's the only night they're open late. If I'm available to get down there in the future, I'll post up on here.

The pike was underneath the bus last night, and yes definitely a few fish inside (not that I ignored the signs, oh no )

The others that we saw were over in the container.

Cheers,
Simon

Might bump into you some time then (given the vis last night, that should be fairly easy )

Simon

Indeed. Of course, we only ever poke our heads through the windows for a quick look (to be honest, you actually get a better view of 'stuff' that way IMHO).

Alternatively: "Signs? What signs? I'm afraid we'd kicked up the silt a bit and ruined the vis, so we didn't see any signs at all..."

I'm still not sure whether it was pouncing on a small fish, or just warning us off its territory - we were both pretty startled though!

Sorry I missed you, Simon A didn't mention that you were there, otherwise I would have introduced myself. Sorry for that. Maybe next time as you say. I am going there pretty much every Weds for the next few weeks anyway. Makes quite a pleasant evening when the weather is good.

Part of the reason for going last night was to get the torch wet, but of course I was in a rush to leave and ended up leaving it at home
