Smile Loch Long - The Caves. 4th May

Went and dived the caves today with John Nicolson, there wasn't a lot of life but I thought it a very good dive anyway. Lots of stuff to look at, unfortunately my borrowed HID lasted about 45 seconds so I only had my backup torches, one lasted 40 mins the other about 10, I need a better backup I think. Vis was around 6-7m and it was a nice sunny day, beats working that's for sure.

I must be getting used to this drysuit lark, only one "buoyancy moment" in just over an hour, only got to get used to the cold now and I'll be sorted

Ian

Glad you are enjoying the "Scottish Diving".

Get yourself down to St Abbs when the weather is nice. Nice senic dives to be had.

Cheers,

Gary.

My mate brought my HID back from Phuket last weekend, I picked it up and brought it up to Glasgow, luckily I noticed a missing O-ring before I took it diving. The missing O-ring arrived today but I'd already gone so I used a borrowed UK light cannon, damn thing just won't stay on. As regards kit, I bought a drysuit from Dave Crampton and it's working fine, it's just my hands that get really cold, my 5mm gloves just aren't enough I'm afraid, need to try something else.

Go for a set of dry gloves for about £30, they don't look much but they are a massive improvement over the wet ones, they are the only ones I dive from January to April. (Of course, come 1st of May I'm in shorts and T shirt!)
