Nunima & Loanda - Ashford Dive Club.

Nunima on the Saturday.
Loanda on the Sunday.

Despite a early start on the Sunday, leaving Dover in the SUN and flat calm seas was the start to a cracking day, we left port at 0630 for a slack of 0700. Around 0800 the wind was starting to get up a bit and a few waves getting some white caps , but still a comfy ride back and have some brekkie , to make a plan for the afternoon dive, as the wind was getting up and the forcast was matching , we canned the dive....

We saw lots of life and although 2m viz isn't quite as good as we had in Cornwall it is slowly getting better.
Today we did the Loanda and with a good 4m viz it was also an excellent dive. I found a fabulous looking nudibranch - Dendronotus frondosus which was very exciting (although I am not sure Larry understood my excitement at seeing a slug!) Sadly I didn't have my camera with me? We had a good display by a couple of free swimming Dogfish and we found a couple of Butterfly fish.
Sadly the wind was getting up so we decided to bin the final dive but at least we all got to go home and do our kit and have a rest after our early start this morning.
Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a great day and a special thanks to Andy from Taurus for taking us out. It looks like the summer diving season out of Dover has well and truly lasted.
Cheers
Chris

It was great to have two dives with really quite good viz at the weekend.
Having had several dives earlier in the year with 1/2 m viz I had decided
that I don't fancy Dover diving when it is so gloomy that you can't tell
whether you're going up or down or under something. BUT the weekend was so
much better and I agree that the Dover season is starting properly. The
Numina was a new wreck for me and it is so big it will certainly need
another visit :-)

Diving the Loanda on Sunday morning we had about 4 m viz (and I am usually
conservative when guessing distances) and it was great fun to watch 2
dogfish swim around us as they are usually fast asleep during the day when
we are out. Thank you to Chris for organising this weekend which was a bit
of a nightmare with people pulling out and joining all the way through.

See you all at the weekend for the MENCAP dives!

Svenja

Dave B was on the Loanda today, they had 10 mts viz ,,, and he saw my shot and thought i was going back there and left it , he said it got wrapped round the wreck twice, so need a diver now to pull it rather than a snatch.........

Fuck , how did it get on the Loanda ?????

Thats 4 shots well in wrecks now ,,,,,,,,,,
