Bimble round the Cape

All in all not a bad day today. We had a leisurely start rather than queuing up to get in early and found an almost full carpark. It took a fair bit longer than expected to sort my sister's b/f out with his semi-dry set for the day so we were pretty sure 3 dives was going to be too ambitious

On the upside, the hire kit from Capenwray looked pretty good. I wasn't convinced that the semi-dry looked that warm, but the sun was shining - and I wasn't wearing it

First dive was an easy stroll in by the "reef" and a swim out to the 2m platform to run through a few skills as a refresher. Confidence building we headed off past the 6m platform into the soup . Viz was pretty grim around the Cape today, so nobody was more surprised than me when we actually hit the cessna, african queen, helicopter and slipway according to plan

Timing, as they say, is everything. So it seemed only natural to finally meet some fellow YD'ers with them kitted up and just about to go and leap in and us with tanks on shoulders heading for fills! Still, managed to have a brief chat at the time and then again at the end of the day with air assisted, Mr. NikNaks himself and Davey Willo. Great to meet you guys and hopefully I'll join you on a future gig

After soaking up some extremely pleasant weather we sauntered back in for our second dive. Things looking good as the semi was working a treat and no cold at all! Down the shot to the heli and over to the podsnap then back and on to the gypsy moth. Navigation luck ran right out at this point and we missed lord lucan completely. A bit of casual finning soon brought him into view tho! Much hilarity on shergar with impressions of grand national jockeys and rodeo riders. Is it possible to be narked in 7m?!

A bit of fun to end the dive feeding the fish. Great to have a great couple of dives, a good laugh and meet some new folks!

Indeed it was nice to meet up Neil.

I'll post a report of our day out tomorrow, too tired now after a nightmare journey back to Brum

Just to say thanks to Air Assisted and That Handsome Devil Willo

More to follow.

It's still new and fresh enough to be interesting for me at the moment

Indeed - and happily I didn't get to witness the salvo's in action and end up with a twitchy wallet

Oh Not sure which way you headed back, but I was glad to get off the M6. It was nasty.
