TR Thompson - 23rd July

Dive blown out today, so though I may as well post about yesterday's...

Yesterday dived the TR Thompson out of Brighton on "Brighton Dive". This is a well dived wreck as it's in the mid 30m range. On a spring with quite a big tide, so only about 25mins of slack.

Dived with Tom, both of us on YBOD's. Shot on starboard side, went left & proceeded towards the stern. Came to the mid ships section which is quite collapsed with what look like ribs sticking up with sand encroaching. Arrived at the stern section, the current was picking up now & noticed fishing swimming into it to hold position. After a quick shuffty inside the stern section & rejoined my buddy on the hull side & we pulled ourselves around to the stern (this is when it's good to be on CCR) & used the current to drift down to the bows.

This is when I noticed my cuff dump wasn't working Think undersuit blocked it somehow, need to punch some holes in the Weezle in the dump area. Never mind, dumped gas thru the wrist seal & dump started working again at 9m.

We then ascended onto fwd section of ship & pulled ourselves back towards the mid ships, where we ended the dive & deployed our DSMB's.

Very nice dive, some crabs & lobsters, lots of tom pots as well as large shoals of fish. The other pair reeled off wreck to go looking for scollops.

Most of the dive around 32 - 34m, deepest was 36m around the bow. Did a sort of "figure of eight" trip around the wreck. Viz was very good 5 - 6m at least.

Did about 50 mins bottom time, after a couple of deep VR3 stops (@24 & 14) had 14mins of deco at 6m.

This is what is looked like before it sank:

good report, scary when dumps don't work, glad you made it ok even if a bit soggy from the wrist seal venting.
