| Sydney, Nova Scotia I had the chance to travel to Nova Scotia last week, so I couldn't miss the chance of a couple of dives there. The first was an evening dive on Wednesday at Englishtown, nice little drift dive with plenty of life, and snails the size of you wouldn't believe. The bottom was sandy with plenty of crabs running around. There were some flat fish about the size of your hand there, and small lobsters hiding under the Sugar Kelp. We finned steadily into the current for a while, then slowly drifted back to the entry point. Thanks to the guys from the local dive club who allowed me to blag a dive with them. Englishtown dive site The second dive was on the Saturday on a wreck of an old barge at Grand Narrows. The current was running like a train, making diving quite difficult. I managed to explore the lee side of the wreck, which was quite extensive despite the military having blown the top of it! The site was teeming with small aggresive fish, who buzzed around your face looking for an opportunity to chance a nip at any exposed flesh. I had to keep flicking them away as if they were flies. The wreck itself was covered in soft coral, anenomes and star fish. Thanks again to the local dive club allowing me to blag another dive with them. Grand Narrows dive site The viz at both sites was quite good, and the water temp. was between 13 and 16 degC. Both dives were done using an ali 80cuft tank with my own regs and drysuit etc. ColinM
