| Eyemouth with Marine Quest I recently did a weekends diving with Marine Quest out of Eyemouth. On the Saturday there was only 7 of us on the boat so we had plenty of room to spread out as we headed down the coast to Burnmouth. We dived Ross Carrs and the wreck of the President. The first dive was a gentle drift along with plenty of marine life on the rocky reefs that run parallel with the shore. The wreck of the President is in shallow water in amongst a mass of reefs and kelp. There are a couple of boliers and plenty of plates to rummage around. The surrounding area has plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. Day two and we had a full compliment of 12 on the boat but we still seemed to have plenty of space to kit up. We headed up past St.Abbs harbour to Brander Point. This is a big slab of rock that juts out of the headland. At around 25m it meets the seabed but in the 10-20m range there is plenty to see. We headed along one side of the wall, crossed it’s three main gullies and ended the dive on the other side of the rock. Our last dive of the weekend was back near Eyemouth Harbour near Divers Hole and Conger Reef. This was my first time diving out of Eyemouth, although I’ve done Abbs quite a few times. The good thing about diving with Iain (Marine Quest) is that he’s quite happy to go further a field, even on a weekend. We did the far side of Abbs, Eyemouth and Burnmouth in one weekend. Iain was even telling me about a trip he’d done to the Isle of May. Some of our group stayed at the Eyemouth Caravan Park , which has pretty reasonable rates when worked out per person per night. You can’t get much closer to the harbour and your in a prime spot for shore diving sites like Weasel Loch. If you've not dived from Eyemouth before I'd recommend giving it a go, I'm sure we'll be back.
