Talking Capenwray on Friday 16th (Dec)

Five of us met on a beautiful, calm, sunny (but cold, brrrr) day. James tried out his new dry suit (A+++++) and did some BSAC SD dives with Dave. Simon, Steve and I buddied up and went for a couple of bimbles. Excellent vis. Only downside for me was the massive freeflow at the beginning of the first dive, resulting in a short (19min) dive for me. James adjusted my octopus reg in the interval, so the second dive had no freeflow problems. Thanks James! Also thanks to Simon & Steve who sorted the freeflow when it happened. Greens all round.

Hope to dive with you all again sometime. Have a good Christmas & New Year.

Shuna

Thanks for the glowing report Shuna

I'd like to say hi and thanks for coming to the guys to. It was a good day out as Shuna has said, just nice to get into the water and keep us going before christmas. Keylimepie, Dave, is rapidly gaining his SD qualification and survived, and passed a couple of sessions with me, well done that man.

Hope to see you all again sometime in the New Year, it's unlikely I'll get back in the water before then.

James

Yes, cracking day.

Yes, it was a smashing day. A conference at the dive centre, but not too many divers in the water. Viz was fantastic, and I somehow managed to pass 2 drills - a big thanks to James for taking time out for that. The new Protec suit looked the business.

It was nice to meet some new faces, and it would nice to meet up again.

I'm going back over on Wed - I must be mad

Cheers

Dave

Blimey, with you five at Caps, the 7 of us at Stoney and the DIR crew down at Chepstow (I think), that means there were at least 15 YD'ers getting wet yesterday. And thats just the ones we know of so far !
How cold was Caps ?

I for one could not believe how good the viz was at Capernwray 18m+!

It's cooling down though and Santa is bringing me some dry gloves!

Yep, and easy 20m in places I thought. From the bottom of the helicopter in about 18m you could clearly see the surface, we let of DSMBs from around 14m on top of the container and were able to watch them all the way up, you could even see the lines - honest. As for the temperature, it was a refreshing 7 degrees and falling, I'll go for 4 degrees by the end of January.

As Dave mentioned, the new Protec suit was great, fitted well and gave me plenty of movement. I had a damp patch under the shoulder dump, but my arm was not wet, just on the surface, and I didn't feel it touch me while diving. I'll need another couple of dives to get into it, but for it's first venture I was well impressed, and quite happy to recommend Ian in the Wirral. He made it in about 10 days, and told me he'd do a same day turn around for any problems with it. Can't say fairer than that, it beats the three months and no suit from Otter -

James
