It all started on a fantastic day, we all met up with Scrumbag and Kalahari Diver. These guys brought out huge amounts of really nice flapjack for everyone (Top one gents! may have to ask for the recipie!)
Off we went towards the Resurgam, it was a little lumpy, but not too bad. Elfyn shotted the wreck on the second go, but it looked a little touch and go as to wether or not the shot was on the wreck, he said it was either there or damm close. Becs and myself went down the line, and found some wreckage there, but not the Resurgam. We swam into the tide as Elfyn had suggested, and the wreck was about 5 or so meters away. we spent about 30 mins on the wreck, and heard the boat going back and forth above us.....

Janine and Fe turned up and went round it with their cameras. Becs and myself surfaced after 50 odd mins of bottom time, very happy....

...then we got back on the boat. Sadly 4 of the group did not get onto the wreck . They had followed the same instructions we had, but were unable to find it... (with hindsight we should have run a line out as first pair). To try to make sure that everyone had seen the wreck Elfyn tried to re-shot it for them however the weather kicked up, so we headed back towards port for the second dive.

about 3-4 hrs later, we arrive on station at the second site. During the last 3-4hrs we were battered and hosed by the sea. Everyone was cold and some (myself included) felt a little unwell, so as a group we all skipped the second dive (shame as the viz looked good).

Some notes from the day:
Elfyn is a top skipper, and the boat is top to.
Flapjacks and Jaffa cakes are universal currencies for tired divers!
The Resurgam is a very small wreck, but not what ppl expect... it is a ture oasis
Next time, I'll take a good look in the sand arround it, there was loads of life everywhere
Must do more diving off Elfyn's boat!

Anyways, I didnt have any of the comedy/group pics, but I'm sure that the others will post them up soon!!!

Thanks all for a truly enjoyable day (apart from the coming home bit!)

Cheers
Neil
well what a day out this turned out to be.
We set off with an average forecast 3-4SW ,and i gave everyone the heads up that this would not be a mill pond trip like the last one.
Arrived on site and conditions were ok with a slight swell from the SW.
picked up the wreck and set up the drift for the first pass which dragged straight over the top of the wreck,"don't panic all ,the prongs of the grapple have protective rubber tips!",being the shape of a barrel it happens.
round we went for the second pass by which time the wind was picking up and so was the swell ,over the top of it we go and i call out to the deck hand if its in he replys no dragged over the top again, followed a second later by a yelp of yes as it nearly rips his hand off ,the problem ya get when tide and wind run together giving a fast drift.
Not happy with the location of the bite i do a pass to confirm its position and tell the guys its not hooked into the wreck but very close and down tide ..
As the swell and wind pick up i decide to leave it were it is as a third attempt was going to be hard work.
In goes Neil M and buddy with a trusty plastic bottle to inflate when he's on the wreck.
We watch them swim a very short distance up tide and up pops the bottle happy days as far as i was concerned.
the grapple had caught on one of the old iron pegs used to line grid out the site when it was first surveyed just down tide of the wreck.
As everyone knows Resurgam is only slightly bigger than the dive boat which is no problem when conditions are good but a bit tricky when there not.
sadly the next 2 pair 's of divers never got on it as i could see them swiming south and north so i told the last 2 to head west /same as up tide ,on a compass bearing since it was now slack water ,which they did and dropped straight on it just out of viz range about 5m away.
i picked everyone up and someone suggested reshotting the site for the divers who had missed it, but i declined as the wind was getting fresher by the minute and the tide had turned against it making conditions unsafe.
lucky for me all the divers were spot on ,as conditions on recovery were unpleasant.
With a wrong forecast ,as we were now in a 5-6 SW ,the journey home was horrid, 3hrs of being battered, bit of a result , we had plenty of mucky jokes to pass the time.
we may have pulled off diving the Resurgam but at a price everyone was that knackered that it was decided to go straight in and give the second wreck dive a miss which is a shame as the viz looked a lot better.
lets hope the next one is kind!
