Thumbs up bank holiday on "venture" (plymouth)

just had a good 3 days 6 dives over bank holiday w/end diving out of plymouth on venture, highly recomended with pete doing an excellent job of getting us onto a number of wrecks , highlights for me being the persier great viz , huge congers and loads of fish life , a revisit is a must. this was followed by a small cuttlefish on the rosehill and another conger wedged firmly in the boiler.the stern section of the JEL was another enjoyable first and we finished ( a fairly choppy b/hol ) on the scylla.only us there, dived this the same time last year and was amazed by the amount of life on her, best spot of the day goes to fatlaz and his yellow and white nudibrac/slug? thingy (got to learn macro!),found on the top deck not far from the shot , so watch those fins folks!
so a big thanks to pete, who kept the food and drink flowing nothing to much trouble even lending fatlaz his own drysuit as all his kit slowly packed up / broke on him top service...top boat

Glad that you had a good w/e diving. The club have used the "venture" a number of times and have always had a great time and some great dives, I must admit I only go for the sausage rolls and hot doughnauts the Pete keeps forcing on you

The Elk is a great dive, give it a try next time you down there

Without doubt one of my favourite boats and skippers anywhere, combined with access to some of the best dive sites on the south coast, so you could hardly fail on a dive trip on Venture. Usually on my annual 'must do' list. A sorry state of affairs that I've not managed a trip with him this year - sort of sums up my summer of missed diving opportunity!

Never done the stern of JEL so I think on your recommendation I might ask to do that next time.

'tis true sogg old bean, a good weekend was had by all. I too couldn't believe the increase in the amount of life on the scylla. Someone has posted something about nudibranchs on another bit of the site, may be worth trying to upload your pic to there.

I must admit, pete was a top skipper, the drysuit was a touch 'short in the leg' (cough cough) and my stomach a touch too wide, must diet, but it was a great suit. Haven't managed to check my torch out yet though, bet you're quite glad I didn't touch any of your kit eh!

Oh well, off to appraise the funds for next year, and to work out how much it's gonna set me back to get my kit back up to spec. Catch you all later.
