Just to update those interested on this quarry with a brief report:
I dived it on Saturday with Muddweller who had borrowed a load of kit so we could go a bit deeper. It's not that he is not used to these depths, he just left his serious kit at home as he was on holiday in the area.
Up4it and GaryG were also with us and diving a couple of re-breathers, so we started as a 4 (someone has to look after them

) and dropped down to about 45m. We had surface swam to the double buoy and descended down the shot for reference. There was a visious thermocline around the 18m mark, I suspect this will get progressively shallower as the winter comes in. It was around 12 deg at the top and 6 deg at 50m.
From the bottom of the line the RB guys had agreed to go a bit deeper for longer, they were on tri mix and happy to do this, myself and Carl had agreed to stop at the 45/50m range due to deco penalties and Carl's borrowed kit, which he handled like his own - good diver.
The vis was good (easy15m) at depth and where we were, which was just above the 57m tunnel, the RB guys were going to do the tunnel, but went a bit too deep and missed the entrance, but they know where to find it next time. As we got back to around the 20m mark, heading for the platform the vis was deteriorating due to silt being kicked up, when we were at the white vans it was only 3 to 5m, but increased as we swam away from the area.
A good time was had by all, Up4it had a slight problem with his unit but nothing serious, he sorted it our with no fuss and GaryG kept close, they still done the best part of an hour though. Myself and Carl done 55 mins and sat on the concreat platform for 5 mins before the others surfaced, a good move before that killer hill.
Thanks to everyone for the day out, I look forward to diving with you again some time.
James
