Last dive of 2006

Well that's it for this year for me. On friday the regs go in for servicing & the twin set get O2 cleaned while I head up north to visit the folks for Christmas and New Year. Of course in January it will all start again, probably starting in Vobster ...

Anyway todays trip. (This is my first trip report so be gentle )

When down to Portland for a leisurly start of 09.30, which turned out to be nearer 10.00 as Reg (the Skipper) had forgotten his keys and had to go back and get them. We were on Tideflow, a nice if small, boat.

The sun was out, though it was a little chilly and the harbour was as flat as the preverbial (sp?) pancake. We were intending to look at the two landing craft at the end of one of the sections of harbour wall but once we got in the vis prehibited finding anything at all. Never the less I bimbled on for an hour at 12m finding, silt, rocks, an old rowing boat, more silt, an outboard motor (old and rusted quite badly) and an oldish motor boat and still more silt.

Back to the Aquasport cafe for a brew and then a wander over to look at O Three's new place - where we were treated to a little guided tour. They are not quite finished and aparently the formal opeing will be in March, but all in all it looks very good.

Returning to the boat it was out to the other landing craft (the one near the Bombardon Unit). Dropping down the shot line it was imediately evident that the vis was no better. Following the line it was over the the Bombardon Unit for a good rummage around and inside (actually the "inisde" bits are the barge/tug/boaty-type-thing, that lies alongside the Unit. It was then back along the line and a mooch around the landing craft (especially getting down where the enginge is) before ascending and clocking up another hours dive.

Sorry there are no pics, but not having a camera does tend to pose a little technical hitch to taking photo's
