Anstruthers,

A crowd (17)from our club and Old Trafford club arrived at various times at Anstruthers on Friday in order to dive May Island.
6am saw the hardier ones of us up to help getting the 4 RHIBS into the water and sort out kit before breakfast. Accomodation was at a place called the Waterfront, excellent clean and modern accomodation and can house a large group of people. Breakfast was served in the resturant and offered a varied choice away from the normal 'English' breakfast.

It took about 45/55 minutes to get to May Island the sea was very choppy and finding a sheltered place around the Island was proving somewhat problematic, however eventually we did find a small area. Slightly disapointed at the lack of marine life not one fish, crab or lobby to be seen, sea urchins were in abundance though. Its amazing how the ebbing and flowing of the kelp can make some people feel queazy. Anyway stayed down for 35 miinutes then came up fairly close to the rhib.
2nd dive anchored in same area bit dived in different direction, very much the same as first dive minus the kelp. I called the dive at about 45 minutes as I was developing quite a head ache which I attributed to the cold. It took me most of the evening to warm up and it was heavenly sitting next to an open coal fire in a small litle pub close to the B & B.

Sunday morning the winds were well up and waves were higher then some of us was happy going out in so we stayed on the harbour. The 5 that did dive were the most experienced in the club and they dived the wreckage of some wreck on the a different side of the island. Even they admited the journey back was hair raising!!.

Got the RHIB's on the trailers, stopped at the famous 'voted best chippy in uk' chip shop and yes the fish and chips was excellent. If you go there make sure you try them out.
Positives of the weekend

2. Finally sorted out my weighting where I am happy
3. Diving with club memeber sI havent dived with before
4. Viz 3/4 metres
