0mtrs for 0mins

Hi all,

Managed to get out this weekend on Neptune for what was supposed to be the first salty one of the year and breaking my cherry with the nitrox flavoured stuff.

As I drove in to Dover at 9:45 the sun was shining and the sea was like a millpond. BRILLIANT, or so I thought...

We loaded our kit and got all excited, as the boat rounded the harbour wall the sea started to look a little choppy. 15 mins on the run out I started to feel quite green and, apparantly, had gone a lighter shade of pale. And then... Puke. All over the side of the boat. And then... more puke, over the side of the boat. I've never been sea sick before and I can tell you, NEVER again. It was shit. I wouldnt wish that on anybody, bloody aweful.

Finally, after praying to the gods and willing Dave to get a bloody move on we finally reached the wreck. I was still feeling rough and... spewed more over the side. I didnt think there was much left in there! I was starting to feel quite a bit better now so after Jay, Laz and Keith had eventually got down I thought that I would kit up to join them. As I was donning my hood... You guessed it, more puking!!!! So, I canned the dive.

On the way back I still felt bloody rubbish but managed to hold it together and to cap it all off Dave ran the boat into the biggest wave ever which went right over the top and soked me. I was seen mouthing "Oh, for F***S sake".

I have never been so glad to get off a boat before. I could have kissed terra firma. We got to the pub and then I felt much better

Dive date:
Depth = 0
mins = 0
puking = 2hrs

cost £25 - brilliant

Will now be investing in sea sickness tablets.

Sounds like you may have picked up a stomach bug, but can vouch for that ginger (tablets or an inch of root juiced up and mixed with orange juice) works a treat.

ATB,
Lou

Been there, done that.

What stage did you reach?

a) Afraid you were going to die?
b) Afraid you wern't going to die?

I find not having a B&B fryup breakfast or many pints the night before help prevent barfation. Also, as has been said, sucking stem ginger help. Which you should never forget

Adrian

normally I'm brilliant on boats (or so I thought), diving out of Plymouth and I lost everything overboard....the bacon...the eggs....you get the picture....everyone else sitting laughing at me on the boat....I hadn't realised that they had been chewing hand fulls of sea-sickness tablets.....

Thanks for the ginger tip I'll try that....I don't like taking tablets
