Ahh fin pivots. Hate them - all they teach you is to be negative when showing you how bouyancy changes.

for a newbie? erm.... surely keeping the kit near the body will help prevent seperation? easier to do on the bottom, not mid water.... IMHO

How about mid-water in 3m? Not far to either air source.

I done weight removal in chest/head depth. It is enough to prove the point, and shallow enough for easy weight recovery.
