I'm trying to fathon out the lip thing. If it was an allergy to the mouthpiece then you would expect it to affect both top and bottom lips. Do you have allergy to latex that you are aware of? Other thing could be pressure forn the reg on the upper lip causing localised increased blood flow.

Swap mouthpiece and see what happens. I assume there are plastic rather than latex based mouthpieces out there.

Take some antihistamine, hayfever type stuff and see if that makes a difference.

Bill
I've no idea myself Bill. I'd have expected top and bottom lip and maybe some gum and tongue swelling (not good!), but nothing like that...just the top lip. I don't have a latex allergy (latex seals are fine and leave no rashes or marks).

I'm going to look for a hypo-allergenic (sp?) one and replace it. Maybe it's a compound rubber and one of the compounds is causing the reaction?

The pressure idea is interesting, and it could be something to do with that...

Looking for antihistimine as I type

Really dodgy (SUCS) characters alert !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The gang, complete with new super flagpole dryer

No idea what these guys were doing, but they took ages doing it.

Think we were really lucky to get away with it though.
Definitely freshened up on the way back, but sooooooo glad
we actually got to do some of the salty stuff

Well done Dave, glad you made the choice to go out, it is to me a personal diving hurdle many people never make, i think you will have the bug now

Well done also to Terry for making it happen

Some pictures from the day here:

Facebook | David Walker's Photos – Diving with SUCS

Hopefully they work... including the conger picture you wanted Dave!

But yeah, lovely day out, great viz on the first dive, very nice wreck actually, the Betsy Anna - loads of life on it, and some nice intact bits with decent swimthroughs in both the bow and stern sections. Admittedly the second wreck wasn't quite so great, probably partially due to the rather dodgy viz, but still a nice bimble around (though I spent most of the second dive chasing a shoal of fish! )

Cheers again to Terry for organising!

David

Edit: couple of the photos included below, the rest are still on that link.
