| Just got back from a most excellent day on Spellbinder II. John_C advertised four spaces earlier this week and so me, Moz and Dave (KeyLimePie) bagged three of them after our plans to dive St Abbs went a bit awry. Thirtymetres (Su) took the fourth place. Spellbinder II is a good boat with a lift and skip Alan Lopez knows all the wrecks off the coast here very well. I buddied Su, and we did three dives trying out my twin 12s and Su's recently acquired twin 10s. My buoyancy was a bit naff for the first dive - I was possibly a wee bit too heavy, but it felt much better for dives two and three. The sea was flat calm for the most part, although the weather was changeable and it lashed down as we kitted up for our third dive (the sun came back out as we were on the dive though). We also got fed a very hearty lunch of pie, mash, peas and gravy which was very welcome after the first two dives. Hot drinks were on tap all day too. Despite livng on the Tyne, I have done very little boat diving off here. I've spent much of the last year (when I've really got 'into' my diving) going up to St Abbs and Eyemouth as the viz is generally better and you are almost guaranteed to get in. The viz was indeed grainy today and only between 2-5m, but I still had three excellent dives. Thanks Su for being a good buddy! Also, I didn't think my undsersuit was too stinky today, but I'll let others be the judge of that! I'll definitely be going out on Spellbinder again and it was nice to meet John_C and Marky Mark from YD. Thanks to John for arranging it. Indeed thanks to everyone for a great day out and some grand company. | Sounds like a good un (or three) Helen, good photos. Fancy having dry gloves and wooly hats in August. By heck, it must be parky up there!!!! I'm glad to hear your twins are a success, you have a very posh looking kit. ![]()
