A dive not on the persia.

Today we had nice dive on the persier ( not the persia as it's been called in recent posts. You know who you are. Come to my study tomorrow morning to be disciplined.) We launched the club RIB at hope cove and gleefully plowed through the slow swimming tourists and out into Bigbury bay which was flat as flounders pi$$. We were soon on site and shotted the wreck. Decending the shot QS and I were greeted with the site of more pink sea fans than I've ever seen at this site. It was nice and fishy too. This was QSs' first 'proper wreck and she was highly impressed. After half an hour exploring the engine room, stern and gun platform we surfaced into the sunshine and returned to Hope cove to mow down the few grockles we missed on the way out. A splendid dive.

29m for 31 mins. Viz about 6m.

Was it the same Persier that I did a few years back... had a lovely dive..but it was all but flat plates on the seabed.. only the boilers standing high. Nice report, I'm glad to see people are getting out again..I'm only jealous..

Did you spot the John Dorey? He's been on that wreck for a few weeks now

I thought this was going to be a case of "unauthorised scenic diving" but it's not.

Glad you enjoyed your dive on the Persil.

We had a good day out!
Met Nick and Julie in the carpark at silly o'clock. We had been told to get there early to get a parking space.
Rest of the club arrive with the boats.
They all look er.. knackered...
They were camping locally and there had been a rave on near by. The "thump thump thump" had finally stopped at 05:30

Boats launched, and I was told I'm on the second trip. So tea and toast and a leisuely kit prep session. Boats back at 11:00. "MIR" and been to the Persier, "Hubble" to Burgh Island reefs.

Nick and Juie were boathandler/crew for "Hubble" on the 2nd trip to Burgh Island.

I was on the 2nd trip out to the "War Buffalo".
Down to the stern along and between the boilers towards the bow.
I've not dived this wreck for over ten years - now is it due to my senile dementia that it looks nothing like I last remember? Which pikey nicked the captains bath?

Best dive of the day for me was the "we think the shot may be in the "Skaala" but is more likely on the sand 'cos the sounder is showing 53m, can you check it out dive..."

Calm sea, slack water it would have been rude not to!
Slow descent, getting darker, and darker...
Darker patch below me... probably seabed. Check the Gameboy - 36m?
Suddenly metal grating covered in Deadmens fingers! YES!
Shot on the boilers. Had a little swim around (just to confirm it was the wreck he! he!) found a brickette with markings on...
Freed the shot and then a very slow ascent.
Climbed back into the RIB and asked where they got the numbers? and have you saved them? 'cos it is spot on!

Back into Hope Cove. It was heaving with people. At the end of the day it was almost impossible to walk up the beach due to people enjoying the weather and covering the sand with every piece of beach furniture known!

Boats finally recovered, after we had cleared the slipway of people sunbathing... sigh... then the trip home.
Grockle season... they cannot drive at more than 15mph down the lanes...

Home by 18:00, kit washed and drying in the garden whilst I washed the salt away with a swift cider in Denleys!

Nice....

The area forward of the boilers is flatter but the stern section is more interesting.
