1 dive = £100

Not long home from our clubs regular trip to Loch Fyne I would love to say what a great time I had diving there but sadly I cant. I managed to get 1 dive in at Furnace Quarry but then experienced equipment problems which sadly as it was new to me I was unable to fix despite ringing a far more knowledgeable person and getting step by step instructions on the phone.

The 1 dive was excellent and it was good to see "Reggie Wrasse" still there and avoiding the fisherman and growing larger. Reggie did head butt Triplefin as she obviously didnt pay him enough attention.

The weather was utter pants especially when you are on the surface and relegated to doing assistant dive managing tasks and you are trying to record peoples air in/out time in/out etc in the rain. The best bit of the job was helping people kitting up getting in and out the water as its a bit tricky. The social side was relaxed and chilled with some good dive story sharing. The weekend included a great meal in the George on Friday night and a home cooked meal of spag bog, banoffi pie and chocolate cake on the Saturday.
Got chatting to couple guys from scottish sub aqua club in Edinburgh who were with their twinned branch members from Limerick. I take my hat off to some of these guys as they were in wet suits brrrrrrrrr!

So as the title says 1 dive and the weekend cost me about £100, was it worth it some might ask? YES most definitley! I have been lucky in my short 2.7 years of diving and have lost very few dives and it happens to us all it just took me a bit longer then some divers.

PS Met Flipside and Clare,Good Luck with your diving!

A mate of mine spent £1,440 on 1 dive

that's nothing, a mate of mine went to the Red Sea live a board with his son, and got off the boat after 1 dive to 4 metres lasting 7 minutes, then got off the boat and went to a hotel.

So his dive cost him £1,440

What you need is to progress through to Trimix then every dive will cost at least that much and it will seem cheap!!

I take it there was something he didnt like aboard the boat or on his dive? Does seem extreme actions, did he tell you why? And did his sone continue on the liveaboard without him?
You have me intrigued now. Or read that as just being nosey! lol

The boat was terrible, there room had damp and mould on the walls, and the bathroom was disgusting, the son (12 years old ) had ear probs, and the father had an absess which started leaking, so he decided that as they were still near the port, to get the boat to turn round and take them back.

Ohh, the Hotel cost him an extra £400 + drinks, ect, so it was a very expensive dive

Hey Yaz, for you to comment about the price you're obviously not a Goofie (GUE) diver.

Because this is cheap for them.

No and if you ever see me dive you would know for sure I am not a "Goofie" diver. Even though my doubles are bootless at the moment and I use Turtle fins
