l don't recall reading any trip reports about 'proper' diving you've done Tony, if l've missed them please post a link.

l wonder, shall l start a poll?

You want to do you're first UK dive do you.
1. Go to the coast
2. Go to Stoney
3. Go to Wrayspuddle which we all know isn't as good as 1 & 2 but is less than 5 mins away from where you live.

What do you say Tony?

I don't remember anything in the post about doing your first UK dive. What I said was Wraysbury is OK for checking out kit but crap for anything else. I also suggested someone had not seen a Santa because the viz is crap. Well it has been on every occasion I have been there. Don't get me started on the toilets
Sorry if I offended your best most favourite dive site I will go back to lurking and keep my opinion to myself.
Oh yes and Wraysbury is more than 5 mins away - an hour from Romford, Dover an hour and Stoney and hour and a half.
Andy the coastie is always pleasant even on a bad day and you never hear of an oily air fill.

You missed the point completely Tony.

Look at the title of the thread, there's a clue there

Venus posted about her first UK dive, l thought your reply was inappropriate, especially from someone who has never posted a trip report. We need to encourage people to post trip reports not criticize their choice of venue.

You obviously don't read the trip report forum much if this is what you think

But it is only 5 mins for Venus, so for her it's the obvious first choice for a first UK dive, don't you agree?

Thanks for reminding me of the worst dive trip of my life
I was about to throw myself over the side of the boat I was in so much pain
And your friend puking on me did not help

Good diving though

Totally agree but it is not her 'first UK dive' she has been diving at wraysbury for a couple of years.

Must admit I did miss it is her first UK dive 'this year' in the title so maybe it is a good site for her to test her kit out.

And WTF is the Santa hat all about, it is still November.

It is OK for checking out kit but crap for anything else. Go to the coast and do 'proper' diving or go to stoney and at least see what you are doing.

What do you say Tony?
and even more to the point, who's nipping down to the coast Wednesday evening after work when there's some diving and a nice bit of social to have (in the pissing rain) at Wraysbury

and even more relevant for me .... If you're broke and can't possibly consider spending out on boats and petrol, particularly when the dive may be blown out as some have this weekend, do you sit at home wishing you were diving or go diving?

Oh and btw, I have done a hell of a lot of dives at Wraysbury and only about 5% have been in zero viz. Granted the summers months when many are training is likely to be poor but I use it more for practise and social then as I try to be diving the sea, mostly blown out this year I did however dive out of Brighton, Littlehampton, Swanage, Weymouth, Portland, Eastbourne, Looe, Orkney and the Red Sea this year.

Can't really see the point in joining a friendly, positive happy thread clearly about Wraysbury just to slag it off implying inland site divers don't get salty. Don't like it, don't go there and don't dis it for those that do

Oh yeah, and the point I made about Santa was 'cos she wasn't actually wearing it when we were diving and during the dives I saw many objects of interest, loads of fish and plenty of crayfish and would definitely had noticed a big red floppy hat

Heaven forbid that Christmas as we know it, and Dude celebrates it, has a bearing on Christianity. Humble beginnings, born in a stable ....... over priced junk, TV and alcohol, garish decoration () people feeling they must buy presents however crap they are ..... I mean, where's the gold, frankincense and myrrh ?
