He he, I was fine in the drysuit, hands warm, etc.

We saw a couple of guys who'd hired little scooters, they didn't seem to have been in long when one surfaced. His speed had caused a huge block of ice around his reg, he had to go and have a thaw out of the water, reduce speed and then he said he was ok.

Coldest water I've dived by 2 degrees. Wouldn't have fancied any mask removal drills, worrying thing is it will be like that for a few months yet, seems colder than last year, my first year,

If you do try those 3 finger mitts, let me know how you get on with them, as I keep looking at the Poseidon ones in Go Dive for about 20 quid.

A guy I know off a fish forum apparently tried some today in Stoney and his reply was

Made a hell of a difference to me. I found bits were easy to handle, despite jumping from 3mm to 6mm. They join the middle, ring and little fingers, so the two main dexterous digits are still free.

That may just settle it for me, I need some new ones anyway as my aqualung 5mm now have a hole which is growing every time I put them and my previous NDiver kevlar ones did the same

I'm not insane Nor do I need a gaysuit :P it's a bit extreme buying a drysuit to keep my hands warm.

I did 41mins on xmas eve and only got cold when I pushed my hood down and flushed cold water down my back

If I had the cash available though I would buy one, but sadly I don't and thankfully I'm 'ard (fat) enough to dive in a semi

I have some endurotech ones and they are fantastic 2.7 deg for an hour and still warm [unlike my ice cream headache]

the poseidon ones are very good (I've poured steaming water out of them after a dive); the Waterproof 7mm ones with dry(ish) seals are even better (if a bugger to get on)

Another vote for the lobster claws I used a pair of Poseidon 3 finger mitts all through last winter and they kept my fingers lovely and warm.
