loch fyne 3rd jan 08

well having done a shore bimble in the oray firth on the 1st jan to check the regs were all okay after servicing and cleaning and having a few days spare what better to do than go diving.

2nd jan we head off via some walking round loch lomond down to loch fyne with little blue diving - well it'll be big blue in may time hopefully as malcolm is in the middle of building a new cat complete with lift

well strong winds and forecast of snow on the 3rd and we are still not deterred.

2 excellent dives 48 mins and 54 mins. water 9 degrees with viz at least 5 / 6 metres with some superb hot chocolate and biccies on the interval. The sites were on the eastern area of the sea loch - goose bay and gardens.

Here's a few photo's....

jules, dived off little blue - nice enough dive boat.
big blue (not sure what its official name will be) is in the shed next door awaiting delivery of engines and all other manner of bits n pieces, in fact all thats there at the mo is a blue hull.

Hi Jo

See you did a shake down shore dive along the Moray Firth. Whereabouts did you do that? I have seen shore divers around Hopeman but would be interested if there any other decent spots.

We stayed with my Dad in Elgin just after Xmas and before heading off to Little Loch Broom for New Year and the last dive of 2007. As I had my kit in the back of the car for the NY stint and a friend had his compressor at where we were staying it would have been good to sneak off for a little plowter, especially as the weather was cracking. Still, at least we had a mega walk along the East Beach at Lossie in glorious sunshine.

Any recommendations as to shore dives - also is there anything much to see?

Cheers

Snash

and a few more pics:

Snash,
fair amount of shore diving to be had at hopeman, burghead, findochty, portsoy, banff & rosehearty (although thats a heading a fair bit eastwards).
Not exactly red sea diving but usually loads of lobbies, squatties, anemones and IMHO well worth diving.

Our BSAC club do alot of the training and relaxed bimbles along there when the wind and waves arent battering the hell out of it, and when the divers arent hibernating. :-( ..

Plenty of wrecks in the area too if your up on a weekend and can get a hard boat dive (top cat fm moray diving), or rib dive from north east dive at banff, - will post a cpl of web pages.

Send me a PM for any questions or when your next up this way....
