I'm talking about the pumphouse quarry the one with the Island.

I have heard rumers of lots of fish different species of fish being cought by local anglers.
This is why I want to dive it.

I had a walk around just after new year and could not find a feasible way in
that would not involve SRT/a wire ladder to a tree to get back out Northern/pump house end.
It looks just about possible to get in and out at the southern end.
There is a track and turning area close to the south end. I have not investigated if there is indeed accessa along the track.
The problem is that the "Bridge" leading from the turning area to the quarry ege is so over grown that one would need a machte and quite a bit of time to get through, or take a D-tour through the bushes that I would not fancy in dive kit.
The west side appeard to be all high vertical walls.
The east side is a posibillity but from what I have seen I don't fancy stubling down the steep potentially unstable slope of sharp waste slate not to mention the gorse and brambles and
I'm not easily put of by a bit of climbing/balancing.

I was thinking investigate possible enty sites from the water side but don't necessarily fancy swimming it at this time of year.
Anybody got small inflateble dinghy (spare 150lbs wing?)?
For a snorkel i won't even have to wait until I can clear my ears again.
But I fancy sombody to be there just in case it proofs more tricky to get back out than it looks.
ACCESS
travel around to the pump house
near here is the walk down
close too the old boilers
youv'e probably have been close b4 ,and just missed it ..
yes there is un un-usual fish in there ..
some look like tropical fish...

Thanks.
I will have a look again!

I think I remember the boilers and what looked like a path going down.
I went down but it soon stopped being a path of any sort.
With a bit of light climbing holding on to trees I could get to the waters edge.
the drop into the water was 60cm to 1m, perhaps less but not much less.
As the water seem clear and I could not seen any ledges in the water
assume the wall under water is vertical.

Does that sound like it or have i really missed something?
i.e. a different way down/lege under water that makes it possible to get back out?

As it is I can't see myself getting back out.
Well, not without SRT gear (don't fancy that) or a rope ladder.
I'm not fit enough to pull myself up a rope hand over hand in full dive gear.
I shall investigate a ladder profividing I find an interrested buddy.

Tropical fish sounds intriguing.
Sombody must have disposed of some aquarium inhabitants.
Not sure about the tropcial bit though considdering the temperature.
I suspect Lepomis spp. very pretty but they are a wide spread invasive species/pest on the continent.

Well, it's there because I've been down it. IIRC there was a track through trees that went straight down to the water, not far from the pumphouse, and some sort of collapsed wooden structure by the edge of the water. If you need to resort to ropes then you really need to have a closer look around because I walked my kit round from the main car park and found it OK.

Cheers,

Stuart
