Hehe. Surely not?! Perish the thought...

Good authority? Come on Rob - who? Someone who sells mCCRs perhaps?

Don't mistake an open mind and an interest in emerging technologies as any indication of any change of policy for GUE. And equally, don't mistake GUE and the WKPP - one is a training agency, the other a very sucessful dive team. There is no secret that the WKPP was considering some form of CCR technology as one possible option of extending dive time at Wakulla. Casey and Jarrod talked happily and openly of looking at all possibilites at the conference in Budapest as at the end of the day they are pragmatists and have long considered all options.

Post Budapest, CCR, mechanical or otherwise, has now been rejected as they have come up with a different solution which will give them the additional time that they need for a while. As far as the future holds - like you say - who knows? Most people involved in the project are open minded enough not to say never but don't mistake that for a hidden agenda - it's just simply not the case.

What is certain, is GUE as a training agency have no plans to embrace any form of CCR. Why would they - there are many agencies who already train divers in CCR who believe that it is an appropriate tool for recreational diving. GUE do not.

It was good to catch up with a few people. Bloody cold but guess I'll be seeing quite a bit of quarries for a while until I can get back to Florida in a few weeks time.

Actually no, someone who is as anti RB as they come and certainly in no way associated with any RB vendor. AFAIK know they have only ever dived the RB80 (which they didn't have a decent word to say about) but that was the weapon of choice for the WKPP at the time.

What I heard was that discussions were well under way between GUE and KISS. Now if that was actually WKPP and KISS, or JJ on behalf of the WKPP and KISS then fair enough, but that wasn't how it was relayed to me.

Talking Viz?

Slightly off topic, but as its my thread what the hell, anyone got any idea's why the viz is so bad other than having all those RB divers & DIR lot around?

I've never seen it so bad, we were done to less than 1m in places.

It's true, Tootricky was in a single rig and I'll put my hand up, cause it was
me that made him do it

He was doing a few drills that needed to be done on a single. You'll be
relieved to hear though, that he did revert to type on the second dive.

And, despite not having dived a BCD in over 3 years, it was not really any different to diving with a wing. You let the air out when you want to go down and put air in it when you want to go up.

TBH, it was refreshing and much lighter than the twin 16's and ali 40 I was sporting in the afternoon
